Natural Ingredients for Food, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics

Programme manager: Mr Peter J. van Gilst
Status: current (open for application)

It is not always easy for companies to export to other countries. Companies from developing countries (DCs) that want to export to Europe can face some significant challenges. The CBI has created a new Export Coaching Programme (ECP) for companies in the Natural Ingredients sector for Food, Cosmetics and Pharmaceuticals that want to export to the EU and EFTA markets.

Many opportunities exist for companies in the Natural Ingredients sector from DCs to export to Europe. The demand for Natural Ingredients is growing. Another advantage is that many natural ingredients cannot be grown in the EU or cannot be grown the entire year, because of the climate. There are, however, also significant challenges in exporting to the EU. The European market is a complex, competitive and dynamic market. Many exporters struggle to gain and hold a position on the European market. The increasing number of safety and market standards and competition from European companies may seem obstacles to export. This ECP assists companies that face these challenges in establishing a sustainable position on the EU and EFTA markets.

The ECP is an intensive programme in which many issues like certification are addressed. On-site company audits and counselling, an in-depth training at home and in Europe and participation in leading European trade fairs are part of the programme. This way companies are thoroughly prepared to enter the European market and learn how to handle its difficulties. Companies that would like to participate in the ECP should be in the Natural Ingredients sector (see below: list of selected products).

    Apply?

Companies that are interested in participating in the programme can find the project document and application forms below. Filled-in forms have to be sent to CBI by e-mail, fax or regular mail. Contact details are mentioned at the bottom of the application forms.
